Ethan Bishop-Henchman

Operations Director

Ethan J. Bishop-Henchman is an ordained deacon in the Episcopal Diocese of Washington. As an aspiring community organizer, he is focused on the intersection of social justice and free market principles.

Prior to joining the Rainey Center, Bishop-Henchman was an Operations Specialist with the R Street Institute. Earlier in his career he worked with Hiring Our Heroes, the veteran employment initiative of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, and with Indian Affairs at the U.S. Department of the Interior supporting tribal self-governance.

Bishop-Henchman currently serves with the Edlavitch Jewish Community Center of Washington, DC on their Volunteer Committee, and previously with the Archdiocese of Washington as one of their original Hope Corps Volunteer Leaders, serving two years as a “Catholic Charities super-volunteer” where he coordinated monthly volunteer efforts at a local men’s shelter. He was a founding co-chair of the Outreach and Social Justice Committee at Washington National Cathedral.

In 2018 Bishop-Henchman ran unsuccessfully for Chair of the DC Council. He garnered almost eight and a half percent of the vote, setting a new record for the Libertarian Party in the District of Columbia.

A native Vermonter, Bishop-Henchman graduated summa cum laude from St. Lawrence University with a B.A. in History and Government. He lives in Washington, DC with his husband, Joe, and their enormous black lab named Magic.
