Position Summary

The Joseph Rainey Center for Public Policy is entering an exciting phase of growth, national visibility, and strategic expansion. To support this momentum, the Rainey Center seeks a highly organized, self-motivated, and mission-driven Director of Membership to lead our “Leadership Alliance for a More Perfect Union” (LAMP) network. In collaboration with Amelia Powers Gardner, Rainey Center’s LAMP Membership Chair, this position will be the face of the Rainey Center’s engagement with state and local policy makers, requiring a proven understanding of how to initiate, deepen, and leverage these relationships.

The Rainey Center is fostering the next generation of common-sense policy leadership, working with private-sector corporate leaders, high-level government officials, and members of the academic community towards a responsible and sustainable future. The Rainey Center’s flagship LAMP network is at the core of our mission, and the Director will provide opportunities that equip our policymakers and partners with the tools, information and networking platforms needed to increase their effectiveness and strengthen their leadership skills.

Key Responsibilities

• This position is primarily responsible for developing high-touch relationships with state and local elected officials and other stakeholders, proactively identifying, recruiting, and nurturing our Rainey Center LAMP network.
• This position develops and implements strategic plans that meet Rainey Membership’s goals and objectives created in conjunction with the Rainey Center’s CEO, COO, and LAMP Membership Chair.
• Hire and manage a team of Regional Directors and other senior leaders to manage and grow the LAMP membership and initiatives, particularly in key states for the Rainey Center’s broader mission.
• Develop and distribute a monthly newsletter to LAMP members and prospective members alike.
• Conduct regular check-in calls with members of the LAMP network, to better understand the challenges they are facing in their states and provide actionable intelligence to Rainey Center leadership.
• Structure, schedule, and deliver regular webinar briefings with the LAMP network.
• Build attendance and programming at Rainey Center hosted events, such as our premier National Summit convening and other regional gatherings.
• Organize our monthly Rainey Center Hill Happy Hours, including managing RSVPs, procuring necessary collateral, and executing successful convenings.

Skills & Qualifications

• Five or more years working in this policy field in state capitals, a relevant agency, think tank, political campaigns, or similar roles.
• Strong outreach and coalition building experience.
• Exceptional organizational and time-management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities seamlessly.
• High degree of professionalism, maturity, discretion, and emotional intelligence.
• Outstanding interpersonal skills and comfort interacting with elected officials.
• Willingness and ability to travel as required.

Compensation & Benefits

The base salary range for this position is $100,000 to $140,000, commensurate withexperience.
