Americans strongly support President Trump's immigration enforcement efforts, according to new polling from the Joseph Rainey Center. With illegal border crossings down 95% since inauguration, 53% of voters say the border is more secure now than under President Biden, more than double the 24% who say the opposite.
Support for deportation is overwhelming: 87% of voters back either deporting all people in the country illegally (36%) or deporting those who have committed violent crimes (51%). Only 8% support a path to citizenship without any deportation.
Voters also want to restrict government benefits to non-citizens. 64% support barring non-citizens from welfare programs, while 58% support making undocumented immigrants ineligible for Medicaid, SNAP, and housing assistance.
